Our elite global Hedge Fund client is seeking to recruit an lateral VP level Investor to source, evaluate, underwrite and execute a variety of special situations and alternative credit investments with a primary focus on litigation finance, legal assets, tax and regulatory claims and other esoteric asset opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Source, evaluate, underwrite and execute a variety of special situations and alternative credit investments with a primary focus on litigation finance, legal asset, tax and regulatory claims and other esoteric asset opportunities
  • Analyze legal claims evaluating liability theories and the likelihood of potential awards
  • Structure and negotiate customized term sheets, covenants, warranties, representations, credit agreements, prepaid forward agreements, fee purchase agreements and a variety of other funding agreements
  • Draft investment memoranda and write commentary and portfolio analysis for limited partners and the investment committee
  • Evaluate, monitor, mitigate and report on investment risk
  • Support Portfolio Managers with daily P&L, position reconciliations and booking/executing trades
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support operational improvements, automation initiatives, best practices and process improvements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; MBA or JD preferred
  • 5+ years sourcing and analyzing litigation finance, legal asset, special situations and alternative credit investment opportunities
  • Buyside investing experience at hedge fund, private credit, special situations, opportunistic credit, esoteric/special assets or litigation financing investment firm required
  • Advanced proficiency with quantitative finance and complex financial modeling
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of corporate finance and business operations

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, negotiate, finance and close investment opportunities across a variety of structured credit and esoteric structured asset classes
  • Perform investment research, financial modeling, transaction underwriting, valuation analysis and deal due diligence
  • Assist with business plan development for various investment opportunities
  • Develop investment ideas, write investment memos and create presentations for the investment committee
  • Assist with legal documentation and deal closings
  • Interact frequently with portfolio company management
  • Support post-close efforts including add-on M&A transactions, management reporting, portfolio company growth objectives, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with strong academic standing

  • Experience with Esoteric ABS, ABS Securitization, Structured Finance, Leverage Finance, FIG investment banking or Transportation banking (rail, aircraft, etc.) transactions required

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to firm leadership and lead firmwide financial planning, long-term forecasting and budgeting for the firm’s corporate functions and investment strategies
  • Develop, own and maintain firmwide financial models linking capital requirements, headcount, expense management and revenue
  • Drive and own the annual budget process including periodic reforecasting and variance analysis
  • Collaborate with corporate strategy and firm leadership to align business plans with firm objectives
  • Oversee and own the management company financial analysis – firmwide profitability analysis, expense allocations, management fee revenue, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • MBA, CFA or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of strategic corporate finance in the alternative investment industry required
  • Advanced financial modeling experience and the proven ability to own firmwide models
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-wide strategic planning, forecasting, management company economic modeling across multiple entities
  • Investment banking or corporate development experience is a plus
  • Fundamental knowledge of alternative investing strategies – private equity, private credit, insurance, real estate, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level presentations and materials
  • Experience collaborating with senior leadership on strategic financial planning initiatives
