Our elite global Law Firm client is seeking to recruit a Professional Development Manager to collaborate with practice and firm leadership in developing, implementing and overseeing professional development, onboarding, Associate attorney engagement, performance management and staffing/utilization objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with practice and firm leadership in developing, implementing and overseeing professional development, onboarding, Associate attorney engagement, performance management and staffing/utilization objectives
  • Develop relationships with individual Associates identify strengths and understand career goals and professional development needs
  • Build relationships with partners and serve as a trusted advisor to meet professional development, staffing and practice morale objectives
  • Identify and recommend resources to meet professional development requirements
  • Work closely with colleagues across various teams to support practice objectives
  • Oversee the performance management evaluation process for Associates including but not limited to, soliciting feedback, conducting face-to-face meetings and preparing written performance reviews
  • Collaborate with partners and practice leadership on staffing and utilization initiatives ensuring Associates are exposed to a variety of matters and partners while meeting client needs
  • Identify, develop and manage various training programs
  • Coordinate staffing and work assignments across multiple practice groups as necessary
  • Oversee and track Associate vacation schedules to ensure proper staffing to meet client needs
  • Compile weekly status reports for practice leaders and partners
  • Evaluate and organize team building activities and practice events
  • Complete special projects as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • JD preferred
  • 5+ years of professional development experience with demonstrated staffing and staff utilization experience
  • Prior law firm professional development experience strongly preferred, but will consider candidates with a JD or prior legal practice experience coming from the consulting or education industry
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and managing professional development and training programs
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding fast-paced professional services environment
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Highly motived and outgoing with proven ability to interact with and influence people effectively
  • Proficient MS Office skills
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours as required
  • Some travel required
  • 4 days in office, 1 day remote schedule

Our elite global Law Firm is seeking to recruit a hands-on Learning and Development Manager to oversee the creation and delivery of attorney learning, development and training programs and to assist in managing day-to-day operations of the training department.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation and delivery of attorney learning, development and training programs
  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the training department
  • Identify, qualify and manage external vendor relationships, as well as the negotiation of vendor contracts in coordination with the general counsel’s office
  • Actively participate in the delivery of training programs
  • Manage onsite and offsite learning events including program logistics and employee supervision
  • Lead learning orientations for new associates
  • Coordinate with senior management on bar admission compliance and registration and approve attorney bar expenses
  • Collaborate with CLE team to align programming credits
  • Oversee the workflow of junior team members and assist the senior manager with performance reviews
  • Analyze, recommend and implement best practices and process improvements
  • Develop long-term strategic plans and set goals for the department
  • Mentor, coach and train junior members and resolve any team issues that arise

Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of learning and development or attorney training experience at a large global law firm
  • 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and industry software programs
  • Highly motivated and creative problem solving skills
