Our leading NYC based Professional & Collegiate Sports Marketing client is seeking to recruit a General Ledger Staff Accountant to maintain accurate general ledger financial records, perform the month-end close process, prepare balance sheet analysis and reconciliations and provide general accounting support to internal stakeholders and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process and maintain the general ledger
  • Record all accounting entries in general ledger and prepare balance sheet analysis and reconciliations
  • Analyze collegiate sponsorship contracts to ensure client billings and revenue collections are properly applied in the general ledger system
  • Perform general accounting and reporting for separate collegiate entities (i.e., various college and university athletic programs that the firm has media/marketing rights to)
  • Track all related revenues, accruals, costs and variances
  • Prepare internal management reports analyzing variances vs. actual results
  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing and business operations to resolve any client or contract accounting issues
  • Manage the A/P and A/R function for individual client sponsorship contracts
  • Maintain accurate monthly accounting settlement documentation for each client sponsorship contract

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of General Ledger and Month-End accounting experience
  • Fundamental understanding of general accounting concepts: debits vs. credits, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, transaction processing, management reporting, etc.
  • Experience working with integrated general ledger accounting systems and the ability to function in all system modules (A/P, A/R, etc.)
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize workflow
  • Highly proficient Excel skills
  • Passion for professional and collegiate sports a plus
  • Comfortable with hybrid work model (1-2 days per week in NYC office)
