Our Distressed Hedge Fund client (15+ years in business) has a unique opportunity for a junior-level CPA with 2-3 years’ hedge fund/alternative investment focused public accounting experience to assume the role of CFO/CCO and oversee key financial objectives and compliance requirements as the firm grows its AUM.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and oversee the firm’s compliance program and compliance manual
- Oversee and play a key role in managing the firm’s registration as a Registered Investment Advisor with the SEC (the firm is currently an Exempt Reporting Advisor (AUM under $150MM), but is enhancing its infrastructure to raise capital above $150MM)
- Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and investor returns
- Review fair market valuations in accordance with our marking policy
- Assist the current accounting team with financial oversight and the refining of accounting controls
- Oversee all AML procedures
- Assist with managing some day to day treasury functions
- Interact effectively with banks and brokers and dealers that the firm has current relationships with and with those the firm wishes to open accounts with
Requirements:
- CPA required
- 2-3 years’ public accounting with exposure to hedge fund compliance processes
- Knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML) pertaining to hedge funds and the investment management industry
- Understanding of SEC filings, including Form ADV
- Knowledge of mark to market pricing
- Ability to interact effectively with state and federal regulators
- Motivated, detail oriented and the ability to work with little guidance and supervision
- Keen interest in a hedge fund hybrid accounting/finance/compliance role
