Our global Alternative Investment Management client is seeking to recruit an Assistant Controller to lead fund accounting and support the firm’s investment strategies across several real estate and RMBS investment funds.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the books and records for several real estate / RMBS funds in accordance with US GAAP
- Lead fund accounting and support the firm’s investment strategies across the funds
- Manage NAV accuracy through month-end review of reconciliations, trading PNL and accruals
- Collaborate closely with several internal teams including Operations, Financial Reporting, Tax, Legal, Investor Relations and Technology and communicate frequently with external third-party fund administrators
- Perform fund accounting, reporting, and analysis, review quarterly and annual audited financial statements and support special projects
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of internal processes and fund products traded
- Proactively respond to information requests from investor relations and other internal stakeholders
- Manage, update and maintain accounting issues and processes and accounting / financial system issues
- Liaise closely with internal tax department
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- 7+ years’ relevant fund and/or public accounting
- Broad knowledge of MBS/RBMS securities
- Fundamental knowledge of fixed income securities and private equity and hedge fund structures
- Experience analyzing and understanding complex legal agreements
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, dynamic, deadline driven and entrepreneurial work environment
- Superb communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Technically proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
